We’ve had a stretch of mild weather, with it downright chilly (for summer) on Monday.

But that all ends next week with potentially dangerous heat expected hang around in Pittsburgh.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh says that “the expected heat arriving next week is beginning to look hazardous across the Ohio Valley.”

NWS Meteorologist Colton Milcarek tells KDKA Radio they are expecting highs in the low to mid 90s.

Mixed with the humidity, it will feel like it’s 100 degrees or higher.

With the heat index that high, Milcarek says that can cause a “moderate to major” heat impact on the area.

Some quick tips for when it gets that hot:

Make sure you have plenty of water

Avoid extended time outside

Check on the elderly and those living without air conditioning

Also, if it gets really uncomfortable, know where your closest cooling shelter is.

We’ll keep you updated on the weather as the week goes on.
