Community College of Beaver County is the victim of a cyberattack.
KDKA Radio’s Marty Griffin first reported the attack Monday morning.
In a message sent out, CCBC says:
“The college is currently under attack from some bad actors utilizing an encryption based attack on our data (cryptolocker). At this time college resources are going to need to be locked down in an effort to mitigate the damage. Please do not turn on any laptops or other devices on campus as they can and likely will be attacked with the current attack software. Thank you for your understanding while we work through this situation.”
CCBC students and faculty are on Spring Break this week.
