A community in Greene County is rallying around a family after a young boy was killed in a pedestrian accident over the weekend.
Wilson Churilla of Greensboro was killed on Saturday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle as he was walking on South Eighty Eight Road.
The 92-year-old driver of the vehicle was not injured and an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Wilson was a 2nd grade student at Bobtown Elementary and was a member of the local Methodist Church. He was also a Cub Scout and played football, basketball and baseball in the community.
The loss has affected the entire community, with several fundraisers started to help the family.
The Bobtown Rod & Gun Club is collecting donations for the Churilla Family, the Greensboro VFW is hosting a Chinese auction during its fish fries on Fridays to support the family and a Meal Train has been started online.
“To know him was truly to love him,” said Wilson’s Aunt Chelsea on social media. “Our family is overwhelmed with gratitude for the kindness, prayers, and support during this unimaginable loss. We can’t thank you all enough.”
