Community Shop 'n Save location closing after half a century

An area Shop 'n Save location is getting ready to close after 50 years in business.

The Russellton store in West Deer will close at the end of February.

Signs posted around the store announced the pending closure after a half century of serving the community.

The closest stores will now be around 15 minutes away.

Owners said, as an independent store, it's hard to compete with larger chains like Walmart and Aldi.

The location will continue to stock fresh produce until closer to closing time.

No official closing date has been announced.
