A Consumer Alert has been issued for a restaurant in the City of Pittsburgh.
African Eats Cuisine on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill was cited last week after an inspection showed several issues.
The restaurant was hit with 11 total violations, including one considered “high-risk” and another an “imminent” risk.
The imminent hazard is due to an inoperable dish washer. In addition, the inspector said there was no bleach in the facility.
The high-risk violation was due to raw fish found thawing in a stock pot with water, measured at 67 degrees. Raw foods must be held at 41 degrees or lower. That fish was thrown away.
Evidence of rodents was also found in the facility in the entrance to the kitchen, dray storage, private dining area and basement entrance. and there was a lack of a Certified Food Protection Manager during the inspection.
The inspection stemmed from a complaint alleging an illness in someone that ate at the restaurant.
Any updates to the alert will be posted on the Health Department's website.
