
A Consumer Alert has been issued by the Allegheny County Health Department for a chicken restaurant in Pittsburgh.
An alert was issued after an inspection of Quik-It Chicken on Pennsylvania Avenue in California-Kirkbride this week.
Quik-It was hit with 16 total violations, including three considered “high-risk”.
Those high-risk violations include live cockroaches were found in “multiple areas” of the kitchen.
Hot-holding foods (macaroni and cheese and green beans) below the holding temperature at 135 degrees.
Both items were reheated to 165 degrees and the issue was corrected.
Accumulated food debris was found on utensils around the restaurant and on cutting boards that were stored for use. More debris and grease were found on other items.
The business was also operating without a Food Protection Manager and over 20 items “must either have all surfaces inside and out thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, or be removed from the premises.
