Downtown convenience store employee stabbed stopping shoplifting

Pittsburgh Police say they've made an arrest in a downtown stabbing Friday.

It happened on the 600 block of Liberty Avenue a little after 1 p.m.

The victim, who was stabbed in the ribs, is a convenience store employee who was stabbed while trying to stop a shoplifter.

Police were able to use surveillance video to track the suspect to a river trail near PNC Park where he was taken into custody.

After medical clearance, he'll be taken to the County Jail.

The stabbing victim is last reported to be in stable condition.
