A local convenience store is under Consumer Alert after an inspection found evidence of a rodent infestation.
The Allegheny County Health Department says Rocks Express on Frederick Street in McKees Rocks had four total violations, two considered high-risk.
Those high-risk violations include bags of chips found with rodent chew marks and nearby mouse droppings. All of the affected bags were thrown away.
Other issues include gaps found at the bottom of the front door and sides of the garage door, both big enough for rodents to get through. A window was not protected from pest entry.
A dead mouse was found on a glue board under a three-bowl sink and another one was found on a set of steps in the basement, along with mouse droppings in the basement.
Several boxes were found chewed by mice as well.
In order to remove the Consumer Alert, the Health Department says the following must occur:
-All rodent droppings, dead rodents, and affected food products must be removed from the premises.
-All areas which contained droppings or dead animals must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
-The front door must be sealed to prevent further pest entry.
-A comprehensive pest control visit must have occurred
-Progress on removing unused items and debris from the basement must be observed.
-The door leading to the basement stairs should be sealed to prevent pest entry from the basement.
