The Republican running for Allegheny County Executive picked up the support of three law enforcement unions Thursday.
FOP Lodges 1 and 91 and the Allegheny County Prison Employees Union announced their endorsements of Joe Rockey.
He was Rob Pratte's guest last night on NewsRadio KDKA:
“I couldn’t be prouder of the fac that the men and women who protect us, who put their lives on the line everyday so we can have safety in our community are standing up behind my campaign,” said Rockey.
At a news conference yesterday, Rockey presented his plan to address crime and violence in the county.
That includes, includes addressing problems at the county jail, launching a juvenile detention center and hiring more police officers.
His opponent in November is Democrat Sara Innamorato. They plan to debate at least once in October.
On Innamorato’s website, this is what she says about taking on crime.
Sara is committed to using the tools of county government to tackle the root causes of violent crime, improve health outcomes, especially where there are disparities based on race or family income, provide new healthy activities for our kids, reform the Allegheny County Jail, and expand mental and behavioral health services so our police can focus on solving violent crime.
