County Executive Innamorato announces pregnancy

Pittsburgh's Headlines: July 15, 2026

Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato announced last night she is pregnant.

“I’m expecting to give birth to my first child this year,” said the County Executive adding she is expecting a boy.

That came to light during Executive Innamorato's quarterly address to County Council.

She's advocating for a proposal to require employers to provide 18 weeks of paid parental leave.

The County Executive claims the policy's impact would be minimal.

“Researchers anticipate that employers can expect about 1.7 percent of the workforce to qualify for the policy per year,” said Innamorato.

Some business owners are pushing back, saying the proposal is too costly. The earliest Council could vote on it is in the fall.
