County Police officers are "assisting" city police in Downtown Pittsburgh as we first reported Monday on the Big K Morning Show.
In a release, county police confirmed they will be in the downtown area.
"We are providing assistance with patrolling the downtown area. We are coordinating with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and Port Authority Police. Uniformed officers in marked patrol cars will be working in the central business district. The times and number of officers will vary."
The city also confirmed to KDKA Radio the partnership.
Both County and city leaders said previously they were discussing the option over concerns of violence, drug use and homelessness in the downtown area.
