Cranberry Township residents asked to reduce water usage

The combination of hot weather and a lack of rain are behind a request for Cranberry Township water customers to voluntarily reduce their water usage.

A message from Cranberry officials says the Township is not under a drought emergency, but residents and businesses are encouraged to conserve by limiting outdoor watering to early morning or evening hours.

Other measures include postponing nonessential uses like washing vehicles, power washing and filling fountains used for decoration

Shorter showers and running only full loads in dishwashers and washing machines are also suggested.

And reuse water where possible, including using kiddie pool water to water plants, etc.

“These steps are voluntary, but by working together to reduce unnecessary water use, we can ensure continued reliable service for all residents and protect our system,” said Jason Dailey, Interim Utilities Director.
