Fire crews battled a fire in harsh conditions Tuesday afternoon in North Huntingdon.
Crews were alerted to the fire inside the home on the 300 block of Main Street just after 11:30 a.m.
Everyone that was inside the house was able to escape safely.
Several companies, including Westmoreland City Fire Dept. worked to get the fire under control.
Westmoreland City says crews worked to knock down the fire but conditions deteriorated and a flashover occurred (a fire instantly developing into a fully involved one).
Firefighter safety became the focus while crews also navigated the remaining snow and bitter cold.
“A total of 10 dedicated members committed to this incident, working under extremely demanding and dangerous conditions,” Westmoreland City said in a Facebook post. “We are thankful that no firefighters were injured and commend all personnel involved for their professionalism, training, and teamwork.”
