A local Dairy Queen was ruled ‘out of compliance’ after an inspection by state officials earlier this week.
The Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety says the Dairy Queen on Benevan Square in Butler had several violations after this inspection on Wednesday.
A report says that cheese cake and cookie dough bites were being held at 47 degrees instead of the proper temperature of 41 degrees or lower.
Inspectors say the topping cooler had an ambient temperature of 50 degrees. The unit was found to have an ice build up in the back and was not defrosting.
Debris and food were found on the floor of the dining room along with “antlike” bugs.
Also, a clear plastic ice chute on the soda fountain in the dining room was found to have “slime residue” on it.
The inspection shows the issues should be corrected by September 14, 2026.
Any updates and the full inspection can be found on the Food Safety Bureau’s website.
