Pirates fans will hear a different voice on the radio this weekend doing play-by-play.
Joe Block is taking some time off and filling in will be the voice of KDKA Radio High School Football and Pirates pre-and-postgame host Dan Zangrilli.
Zangrilli calls the opportunity a “tremendous honor” and just hopes to “keep the seat warm” for Block because “he’s a really good broadcaster.”
Zangrilli isn’t new to baseball play-by-play, with five years in the minor leagues as well as calling some Power 5 college baseball.
Joining Zangrilli will be former Pirates pitcher Bob Walk on color commentary.
The Pirates’ first series since the All-Star Break begins Friday night at 6:40. Saturday’s game is also a 6:40 start time and Sunday’s is 1:35 p.m., all against the Chicago White Sox at PNC Park.
