A Pittsburgh-area brewery is releasing a new series of beers for a good cause.

Dancing Gnome is teaming up with Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh to raise money for the organization and help adoptable animals find loving homes.

The brewery will release a new exploratory IPA each month through 2023. Each can will have the picture of an adoptable pet or animal from the rescue's wildlife rehabilitation center.

Director of Corporate Partnerships Christine Serkoch said the hardest part was picking which animals got a little extra publicity.

"We tried to be fair," she said. "We didn't play any favorites, and we tried to select from many different breeds. To narrow it down is difficult."

The drawings on the cans were done by artist Julie Maida.

Dancing Gnome will host a launch party at its Sharpsburg brewery Saturday, February 4 from 12 to 3 p.m.

The first can will feature a dog named Sparrow.

"If we can put a cute animal on a beer can and that gives people a gentle reminder every time they take a sip that we have these animals looking for their forever homes, then we're all in," said Serkoch.
