There is pushback against the mayor's inclusionary zoning plan from the developer behind the Bakery Square expansion.

On the Marty Griffin show on KDKA Radio, Walnut Capital's Todd Reidbord called it a big political stunt.

“It’s not just pushing the ‘easy button’ and say, ‘let’s have inclusionary zoning and put it all on the developers and the people that live in market-rate apartments’,” said Reidbord. “Not one other person in the city would pay for this inclusionary zoning, other than the people that rent apartments and I think . . . it doesn’t make any sense.”

If the plan goes through, Reidbord says “I think you have to” when it comes to pulling back on development in residential areas.

The proposal goes next to City Council for approval.
