The restaurant that took over the space of the Original Hot Dog Shop in Oakland has apparently closed.
Viva Los Tacos, on the 3900 block of Forbes Avenue is listed as closed on Yelp and signage was seen coming down on Monday.
Also, the restaurant’s website is no longer working
The “Dirty O” at the intersection of Forbes and Bouquet Street closed in 2020 during the pandemic after an over 60-year run.
Then in 2021, Viva Los Tacos opened at the “O’s” location.
But, as of Monday, May 18, the space is vacant again.
Could the “O” return in some form or another? Only time will tell.
Viva Los Tacos is right near popular bar Hemingway's that recently closed after decades.
