The passing of music legend and pop culture icon Dolly Parton has affected millions of people around the world and here in Pittsburgh.
While the “Queen of Country” never spent any extended time in Southwestern PA, she had a deep impact on the community.
The City of Pittsburgh released a statement following Parton’s death, thanking her for all of the books her free Imagination Library has provided over the years.
Since 2019, Her charity has donated 306,352 free books to families in Pittsburgh through the Imagination Library.
The Andy Warhol Museum released a statement on Parton’s passing.
“We're very saddened to hear of the passing of Andy Warhol's friend, the singer, songwriter, actress, philanthropist and businesswoman Dolly Parton,” the museum wrote.
Parton was the subject of one of his famous screen printings in 1985.

Herschend, the parent company of Dollywood and Kennywood released a statement.

Herschend called Parton “an extraordinary artist and visionary partner.”
Parton’s last concert in Pittsburgh was in 2016 at PPG Paints Arena, then called Consol Energy Center.
