Drivers were seen drag racing on East Carson Street over the weekend. A video of the dangerous behavior was posted on social media.
South Side business owner Rich Cupka said the situation could’ve been a lot worse.
“If that driver lost control of his car, 20-30 people could have been killed easily,” said Cupka.
He tells The Big K Morning Show it wasn’t an isolated incident.
“It’s getting warmer now so this is going to happen every week . . . because no one’s going to stop it,” said Cupka. “We have residents on the South Side who are 70, 80, 90 years-old that are hostages in their own houses because of this behavior.
Under Pennsylvania law, racing on highways is a summary offense with a fine fixed at $200 plus court costs.
Offenders, if caught, face a six-month license suspension.
