Man arrested after reportedly stealing a yacht along the Allegheny River

A man is in the Allegheny County Jail after he reportedly stole a yacht on the Allegheny River.

Pittsburgh Public Safety says River Rescue responded around 8 a.m. on Friday morning to reported of the theft.

Police say a drunk man broke into the Lock Wall Marina in the Strip District, boarding and unmooring an 82-foot yacht.

He's been identified as 38-year-old Michael Fischer.

He was unable to turn on the power to the boat and floated down the river.

The boat stopped along a river wall about fifty yards away from the Pittsburgh River Rescue boathouse.

Officers boarded the yacht and was taken into custody.

Charges will be announced later. No damages to other boats or property were reported.
