St. Patrick’s Day weekend is a big party weekend for many and police will be out on the roads to find those driving under the influence.

The West Hills DUI Task force will be conducted targeted enforcement operations Saturday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17.

The task force will be conducting “full-scale sobriety checkpoints and/or a Roving DUI Patrol.”

Members of the Task Force include officers from Avalon, Bellevue, Carnegie, Coraopolis, Crafton, Crescent, Findlay, Edgeworth, Kennedy Township, Leetsdale, Moon Township, North Fayette, Ohio Township, Robinson Township, Sewickley and Stowe Township.

Lieutenant Shener Ulke with Moon Police tells KDKA Radio, enforcement can happen in any of those areas.

Lt. Ulke adds he doesn’t want to scare people who plan to go out this weekend. He wants people to plan to use a ride-sharing service, designated driver or other safe form of transportation.

Services like Lyft and Uber could have rides at premium rates over the weekend, but Ulke says it’s still cheaper than a DUI or even worse, hurting someone else.
