Duquesne University adding college of medicine in 2024

Groundbreaking of College of Medicine
Duquesne University

Duquesne is adding a significant, new school to its university.

Calling it a "Significant moment in the university's history", Duquesne broke ground today on a new College of Medicine that is scheduled to open in 2024.

The school's dean, Dr. John Kauffman, says having established schools of nursing and pharmacy will allow them to hit the ground running.

"Having the other health profession schools here has really opened up a lot of doors for us. We've had a tremendous reception from the hospitals in the area."

With a current shortage of doctors, Duquesne says the new school couldn't come at a better time. The college will open with 85 enrollees.
