Elderly man arrested for child luring incident in North Huntingdon

An 82-year-old man was arrested, accused of trying to lure a child into his truck last week.

The Westmoreland County District Attorney’s office says 82-year-old Thomas Gibala of McKeesport was arrested on May 22 by North Huntingdon Police.

A 16-year-old boy was walking on Main Street under the Veterans Bridge in North Huntington last Thursday when “an elderly man in a yellow pick up truck approached him and asked if he wanted a ride.”

The boy declined and says the man then asked for directions to a local business.

After providing directions, the boy says the man asked him again if he wanted a ride.

The boy said no and Gibala reportedly made a sexual advancement toward the teen before taking off in his truck, driving toward Irwin.

After an investigation, Gibala admitted to the sexual advances to police.

Gibala is charged with child luring, corruption of minors, harassment and more.
