The family behind a Leechburg turkey farm will no longer raise fresh turkeys.
Pounds Turkey Farm in Westmoreland County has been in operation since 1935.
The physical demands of the business became overwhelming so the family decided to partner with Hidden Hollow, a turkey farm in the Altoona area to continue selling turkey products in their market.
On the Big K Morning Show, co-owner Tim Pounds said it was a tough decision.
“We poured our heart and soul into this business, have worked all of our lives here to take what our dad started and have improved it and grown and it is a heartbreak,” said Pounds.
The Pounds market will remain open, and customers can continue to order fresh turkeys this fall delivered to Pounds from Hidden Hollow.
