Pittsburgh Police say a viral incident, in which an officer appears to punch a suspect in handcuffs, has been referred to a use of force expert from the Pennsylvania State Police.
The incident happened Wednesday night just after seven, as officers arrested 28-year-old Angel Bradford on suspected drug charges.
Pittsburgh Police say in body cam footage, an officer is heard telling Bradford to stop trying to bite him, and then moments later, to let go of his leg, before the officer appears to strike her in the face.
In a statement, The Bureau of Police says it has heard the community's concern over the incident, and has assured advocates there will be a thorough investigation.
The Bureau asks for the public's patience as they await the State Police findings.
