Acrisure Chairman and CEO Greg Williams joined the KDKA Morning show Friday morning to discuss the new stadium name and his ties to Pittsburgh.
Being a lifelong Steelers fan, Williams already knows the culture of the city, as well as the team.
“I love Mike Tomlin. The standard is the standard. It speaks to what the expectations are of the team and it speaks to the aura of the city itself; the no-nonsense, get it done mentality is something we appreciate and live by ourselves.”
News of the new name on the stadium where the Steelers play football produced strong reactions this week.
Williams told Larry and Paul while the name is unfamiliar to many, the company has 10 locations in the area. He also said that Acrisure intends to grow in Pittsburgh as the city becomes a larger technology hub.
Former Steelers Head Coach Bill Cowher joined KDKA-TV's "Pittsburgh Today Live" and discussed the new name for the Steelers' home.
“When I got there, it was Three Rivers Stadium. All of a sudden, we took that away and then it was Heinz Field. Now it will be Acrisure Stadium,” Cowher said.
“I think it’s very flattering that a company comes from the outside that wants to be a part of Pittsburgh. To me, it’s not so much about the name of the venue, it’s the venue itself. Pittsburgh will always be a tough place to play.”
