The FBI is working with law enforcement after swatting calls triggered lockdowns at schools across Pennsylvania last week.

Special agent in charge Mike Nordwall couldn't give any specifics about the investigation into those swatting calls to schools like Oakland Catholic and Central Catholic.

He did say the FBI is using its unique tools to figure out who did it, but it can be difficult.

“We are finding that these people involved in this activity are using technology to their advantage, we see that with all crimes to obfuscatetheir actives to anonymize themselves to make it more difficult,” aid Nordwall.

As for why people initiate swatting calls, it's hard to say.

Nordwall believes suspects could be doing it for revenge, notoriety or just as a prank, while in some cases the motive is never known.
