PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) After months of no plans, there will be a U.S. Senate debate after all between John Fetterman and Dr. Mehmet Oz.

Fetterman's campaign says the Democratic nominee will participate in one televised debate in mid to late October.

Dr. Oz and his campaign have been calling on Fetterman to take part in a debate for weeks.

Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey joined the Big K Morning Show and shared his thoughts on the possibility of a debate.

"So, this is progress," Toomey said. "He says now for the first time he is willing to debate. But he refuses to give a date, a place, a time, a format."

Toomey also has curiosities about the timing of the agreement and when the debate may take place.

"Well, as you know, mail-in ballots start in late October," Toomey said. "So I'm not sure what to make of it."

A specific date and time have not been set; the only form of information given from the Fetterman camp is that they want it in 'late October.'

Fetterman's campaign says it is working out logistics to compensate for the auditory processing problems he's experiencing after a stroke.

In a recent release from Dr. Oz's camp, they don't believe Fetterman's debate invitation is legitimate.

"John Fetterman's statement yesterday was another laughable attempt to distract from the fact that John Fetterman has zero real plans to debate. He says he 'wants' to debate… but he won't say where. He won't say when. He won't say how. It's a big joke"
