The first new Isaly's store in decades is coming to the Strip District.
The Pittsburgh Business Times reports that Jim Conroy, who owns the Isaly's brand along with his wife Leslee, plan to set up shop in the empty storefront in the 200 block of Penn Ave, the former Boulevard Glass & Metal.
The new store will feature classic menu items and homemade ice-cream, and will include seating for up to 70 customers.
Some of those items include the iconic Skyscraper Cones and Klondike-style bars.
Construction is expected to start in the coming months, with the goal of opening in the second quarter of next year.
The name Isaly goes back to 1833 when a cheesemaker from Switzerland, Christian Isaly, emigrated to Monroe County, Ohio.
Isaly’s locations dotted the Western PA landscape for years and have lived on through chip-chopped ham, barbecue sauce and more/
