First Isaly's location in decades opening in Pittsburgh soon

Signage is beginning to go up in the Strip District at the home of the first stand-alone Isaly’s location in decades.

Opening this summer, the new Islay’s location at 2111 Penn Avenue will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Also, you’ll be able to get some of their famous chipped chopped ham and skyscraper ice cream cones.

The 3,500-square-foot building will also have a deli counter, ice cream bars and more.

Jim Conroy, who owns the Isaly's brand along with his wife Leslee are opening the store at the former location of Boulevard Glass & Metal.

The name Isaly goes back to 1833 when a cheesemaker from Switzerland, Christian Isaly, emigrated to Monroe County, Ohio.

Isaly’s locations dotted the Western PA landscape for years and have lived on through chip-chopped ham, barbecue sauce and more.
