Mayor Ed Gainey and his team and his current administration joined in honoring Peduto and his administration.

“Every mayor, I think, is called for a purpose and time, I think you fulfilled that role quite well.” Gainey told Peduto.

Peduto was revered at the ceremony for his work in making Pittsburgh a more prosperous economic city as well as welcoming a more diverse population and getting the city on firmer financial footing.

He grew the city’s revenue by 20% while securing an additional $10 billion for economic development and cut the city debt level in half.

The Office of Equity was also established under his time in office along with Welcoming Pittsburgh and Office of Sustainability and Resilience.

Instead of using paint, all of the portraits are made through brass etchings. Peduto's likeness will now join that of his predecessors, dating all the way back to the city's first mayor in 1816.
