A former Bridgeville police officer is facing charges in an incident that seriously injured a pedestrian.
Allegheny County Police say a police cruiser driven by Daine Lower struck a 25-year-old woman at the intersection of Bower Hill Road and Commercial Street in December.
She was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Investigators say video of the incident shows the victim was in a marked crosswalk when the vehicle turned onto Commercial Street at nearly 30 miles per hour.
Officer Lower appeared to be watching a video on his cell phone at the time of the collision.
Charges against Lower include aggravated assault by motor vehicle and reckless driving.
