Four puppies were recently found abandoned in Connellsville and a local animal shelter is seeking answers.
Jen Johnson, President and Founder of Ninth Life Rescue Center says she received a call last week that four puppies were found in the woods near Sandy Flat Road. Unfortunately, two of the dogs were found dead.
“Two of them were deceased, they were laying in the woods and the two living ones were cuddled up with the ones that had died,” said Johnson.
Johnson says the dogs tested positive for parvovirus an acute gastrointestinal illness in puppies.
“And they were very strong positive, they were some very sick babies,” said Johnson. “The two of them that had died, they died because of the parvovirus.”
Anyone with any information about the puppies and where they came from is asked to call 724-217-4257.
Parvovirus is transmitted quickly and can be fatal to dogs, especially puppies.
Ninth Life Rescue says that the Parvo Antibody is effective but has a $1,100 price tag.
