Fourth of July fireworks to return to Pittsburgh

The City will also waive block party fees for the day

Fourth of July celebrations, including fireworks, will return to Pittsburgh in 2021, City officials announced Monday.

A family-style picnic will take place at Point State Park on July 4 with music and food vendors from 6 to 10 p.m. Fireworks will begin at twilight.

"It's time to get together and celebrate our life and independence – together," Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto said in a statement. "After a year of suffering there is no better way to do that than joining our neighbors for the most Pittsburgh of all things, which of course is a giant fireworks display."

The City is also waiving the $25 block party permit fee for July 4. Pittsburghers who wish to have a block party must still apply for a permit, which grants access to barricades for single blocks of residential streets and allows exemptions from noise ordinances.

City officials say more information about other summer events, like the Pittsburgh Great Race, is coming soon.
