Hundreds of people are taking advantage of free dental vision and hearing care today and tomorrow at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

1,200 dentists and hearing and vision specialists from around Pittsburgh are volunteering their time to people that need care but can't afford it.

Spokesperson Keith Young says people began lining up at early at 11 p.m. for the event that opened at 6 a.m.

The clinic runs until 4:30 on Friday and will open again at 6 a.m. on Saturday and will close when capacity is reached.

Some of the procedures done include dental exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canal treatments, eye exams, eye glass fittings, free eyeglasses, hearing care and fittings for free hearing aids.

There is no income or eligibility requirement.

For those that need aftercare, Young says they are set up with Catholic Charities, who will make sure the patient gets the care they need at no charge.
