The Free dental, hearing and vision clinic returns to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center this week.
For two days, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center will convert into a space where medical volunteers and professionals will provide free care for hundreds of people.
Mission of Mercy events administrative director Keith Young tells KDKA Radio the clinic is offering care for anyone who walks through the door, no insurance or appointment needed.
“There’s no eligibility requirements,” said Young. “All you need to do is show up and you’ll be treated, with one exception, we do a medical triage for people going through dental. If they can’t physically withstand the dental procedure, then we will deal with that in a different way and we have other providers to help with that.”
Young says the clinic opens its doors at 6 a.m. both Friday and Saturday, and they’ll stay open until capacity is reached.
Dentists, clinicians, opticians, ophthalmologists, nurses, imaging technicians and more are just some of the volunteers needed for the event that provides dental exams, fillings, extractions, eye exams, glassing, hearing screenings and hearing aids for free.
