Officials have confirmed Freedom Area Schools received a bomb threat on Monday.
Superintendent Dr. Jeff Beltz says that High School principal Steve Mott received a “nondescript bomb threat” and the high school was evacuated.
The middle school and elementary schools were also evacuated with students being dismissed to their families from the stadium. Parents and guardians are asked to have their ID with them.
“Students can be picked up by families at this time,” Dr. Beltz said. “All parent traffic should enter at the top High school entrance off of Harvey Run Rd on Harvey Ave, pass in front of the high school. At the Bulldog statue, the high school parents should turn left and proceed past the baseball and softball fields and go around the elementary school to the stadium for pick up.”
Buses will be provided to students who are unable to be picked up.
Several other schools across the country have received bomb threats Monday. It is not known at this time if any of them are connected.
