A fundraiser is underway after four children and one adult died this morning in a house fire in Jeannette.

The fire occurred around midnight at a home in the 400 block of Guy Street.

Three other people were able to escape the home and were taken to the hospital.

The fire also spread to the house next door but people in that home were able to evacuate without injuries. Both homes are believed to be a total loss.

To help those affected by the fire, Jeannette Police say donations should be sent to Elliott Community Federal Credit Union, Jeannette Area Disaster Fund.

The credit union is located at 920 North 4th Street in Jeannette.

“Checks must be made payable to Elliott FCU with a memo line "Jeannette Fire Survivors Fund." The credit union’s Facebook page says. “If you are a current member and would like to donate, the funds may be taken directly from your shares. All proceeds will be donated to the victims and their families.”

The Jeanette school district said they had lost multiple members of the school district and the community, and that school counselors, social workers and support staff would be available.
