A section of the Great Allegheny Passage trail remains closed while the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources investigates a tragedy there over the weekend.
79-year-old Gail Luck of Germantown, WI was killed and another cyclist was severely injured when a 1,000-pound boulder trapped them during a rockslide.
The incident occurred around noon on Saturday, near mile marker 88 just south of Connellsville, prompting first responders to use specialized airbags and rescue gear to free them.
The surviving cyclist, Luck’s husband, was airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
