Gas prices continue to climb in Western PA after strikes against Iran

Gasoline prices continue to climb in the Pittsburgh area.

For the Pittsburgh area, AAA says the average price is $3.74 a gallon.

While that's just one cent higher than the day before, it's 51 cents higher than a week ago.

While refineries had already begun the process of producing more expensive summer blends in late February, average prices began to skyrocket following the US military action in Iran.

Crude oil has skyrocketed to over $100 a gallon for the first time since 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine.

AAA says crude oil makes up 50 to 60 percent of the cost of the price you may at the pump for gas.
