We are just a week out from Christmas. Normally this time of year, things are cheerful, stores packed with holiday shoppers, restaurants cranking out holiday orders, same goes for bakeries. This year however, ugh. The pandemic impact isn't pretty folks. It's ugly. Restaurants are being killed with indoor dining shutdowns.

My friend Marc Serrao knows this all too well. While he has been able to keep his bakery running and keep his staff working, he's feeling the pinch. This week is normally one of the biggest as Oakmont Bakery cranks out thousands upon thousands of deeeeelicious cookies.

The cookies are baked, but the orders aren't coming in. As Marc explains in the video above, businesses and individuals that normally buy cookie trays for office or client gatherings simply aren't doing those things as people socially distance. The bottom line for Oakmont Bakery will be a huge blow to its bottom line.

Speaking of bottom (pun definitely intended)... Check out the classy creation the Oakmont Bakery cake designers have come up with for a New Year's cake that pretty much sums up the pandemic year for a lot of people.

This may be the one symbol of 2020 we can all relate to. Yes, that's a roll of toilet paper surrounded by poop emoji chocolate cupcakes. If you can't make out the writing here it is: "Time to Flush 2020". Who can argue with that?
