Get rid of your Christmas Tree while making goats happy!

If you still have a real Christmas tree that you need to get rid of, one local organization is hoping you’ll donate it so it can be used as food.

Allegheny GoatScape, an organization that uses goats to help clear overgrown lots and other hard-to-get areas in Allegheny County is collecting trees cleared of everything, including tinsel and ornaments, on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Healcrest Urban Farm 5222 Shamrock Way in Garfield.

“Most evergreen trees are a welcome treat for goats as they are high in vitamin C and can help keep internal worm counts down,” GoatScape says on its website.

A donation of $10 is suggested to help “support winter care and rent a wood chipper for the trees after the goats have eaten through them all.”
