Giant Eagle Pharmacy to take over move former Rite Aid locations

Two former Rite Aid locations in the Pittsburgh area are being transformed into Giant Eagle stand-alone pharmacies.

A spokesperson for Giant Eagle tells KDKA Radio that the former Rite Aid locations in Mount Washington and Sewickley will be reopened at Giant Eagle Pharmacy locations “soon.”

The stand-alone pharmacies also offer health, beauty and wellness products along with “market staples and convenience options.”

Jannah Drexler says after the successful opening of the first two stand-alone pharmacies in Hollidaysburg and Cambridge, OH, Giant Eagle is “actively considering the potential to expand our stand-alone Giant Eagle Pharmacy business.

Drexler confirms that Giant Eagle is actually in “the process of exploring additional former Rite Aid locations throughout the region, but we are unable to comment on specifics sites until we formally close on the properties.”
