Giant Eagle has extended its Heinz Field COVID-19 vaccination clinic.
Appointments for March 8th and 9th will be made available online Friday afternoon at GiantEagle.com/CovidClinic.
Giant Eagle says they also expect to receive a shipment of vaccine in the coming days that would allow for appointments on March 10.
Those appointments would become available over the weekend. Eligible patients are encouraged to routinely check the store's COVID clinic site.
The multi-day clinic is located in the PNC Champions Club and was originally scheduled to from March 2 through March 5.
"We are excited to partner with the Steelers organization to make ongoing vaccination opportunities accessible to neighborhoods surrounding the city by hosting this clinic at Heinz Field," said Giant Eagle spokesperson Jannah Jablonowski.
"Giant Eagle Pharmacy is committed to supporting the comprehensive care of our communities, and we are pleased to do our part to increase access to the COVID-19 vaccine throughout Western Pennsylvania."
Appointments will be confirmed for eligible patients, and Giant Eagle's digital tool will offer plenty of availability and scheduling options.
Only eligible patients can make the appointments for the Heinz Field vaccines.
Those criteria align with the same ones used under the Tier 1A protocol of the Pennsylvania interim vaccine rollout plan.
Vaccines will not be administered to those who have not made an appointment before arriving at the makeshift clinic.
Giant Eagle is asking qualifying individuals to show up 15 minutes before their appointment and to remember their masks.
People will be asked for identification, and bringing medical identification, specifically, is recommended.
Parking will be available in Gold Lot 1.
