While TSA employees continue to work during a partial government shutdown, a GoFundMe has been started by the Allegheny County Airport Authority Charitable Foundation to help support the workers at Pittsburgh International Airport.

The Foundation says the proceeds from the GoFundMe will go to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to buy gift cards for groceries, fuel and other supplies for TSA and CBP staff affected by the shutdown and lack of payment.

“As the shutdown continues, many dedicated public servants are facing unexpected financial hardship,” said Chris Heck, President of the Allegheny County Airport Authority Charitable Foundation. “Through this effort, we aim to rally our community to support those who serve us every day but are now in need of assistance.”

TSA workers are not getting paid after a partial government shutdown began on Valentine’s Day stopping funding for the Department of Homeland Security.

TSA workers need to continue to work though, because they are deemed essential employees.
