A GoFundMe has been started to help support the family of a 17-year-old girl that lost her life on Friday after she was hit by a vehicle in Carrick.
Ishara Kami was hit on Friday afternoon just before 3 p.m. after a vehicle lost control during bad weather conditions.
The vehicle slid down Brownsville road, hitting a pole and continued to slide, hitting Kami on the sidewalk.
People nearby rushed to the scene and tried to perform life-saving measures before EMS arrived. The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene.
“My close friend was tragically killed in an unexpected accident while walking on the sidewalk,” wrote Reshma Bisaw on GoFundMe. “Her passing has left our family, friends, and community in shock and heartbreak.”
Bisaw says the money will go toward supporting the family and paying for funeral and other expenses after their sudden loss.
