GoFundMe started to help family of woman killed in Parkway East crash

Jacinta Stevens' vehicle crashed into the Monongahela River last week

A GoFundMe has been started to help raise money for the family of the woman that was killed last week when her vehicle crashed into the Monongahela River.

31-year-old Jacinta Stevens was a model and worked at Pittsburgh Housing Authority.

As a model, Stevens had participated in the Johnstown Fashion Week, a yearly event in the Pennsylvania community.

The organization posted on social media, “Jacinta was more than just a face on the runway; she was a beacon of grace and a friend to many models in the Johnstown, PA fashion scene. Her passion for the industry and her unparalleled professionalism inspired everyone who had the privilege of working with her.”

Jacinta’s cousin is raising money to help her mother and two children, an 11-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter.

“We are raising funds to help lay Jacinta to rest with the dignity and care she deserves and to provide immediate and ongoing support for her two children as our family begins to navigate the days ahead,” These funds will go toward funeral and memorial arrangements and ensuring her children are cared for.

Jacinta Stevens, of the city's West End neighborhood, died at a local hospital hours after the crash, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said on Friday morning.

First responders were called to Second Avenue between the 10th Street and Birmingham bridges around 4:30 p.m. last Thursday for reports of a vehicle falling into the river from the Parkway East

State Troopers say Stevens lost control of the vehicle, struck a snowbank, went over a concrete carrier and fell about 120 feet into the Monongahela River.
