Governor Josh Shapiro is responding to a social media post by a state lawmaker, critical of Shapiro's choice to move his family back to their Montgomery County home following last year's arson attack at the official residence in Harrisburg.

State Senator Tracy Pennycuick claims Mr. Shapiro put his family at a "higher level of risk than necessary".

Governor Shapiro spoke to KDKA Radio this morning:

"I'm always happy to have a battle of ideas. I'm happy to have people tell me they agree or disagree with my position on issues. The fact that they're attacking my family, the fact that they're attacking the State Police is really shameful," he said.

Pennycuick is one of several lawmakers questioning the use of 1-million dollars in public funds for enhanced security at Shapiro's private residence in Montgomery County.
