Lethal gun violence is up sharply in Philadelphia, with reports of 100 murders so far in 2022.
Governor Tom Wolf tells the NewsRadio KDKA Morning Show the gun violence is not exclusively a Philly problem.
"This is something that's happening all across the country and all across the commonwealth. I think there are other cities that have higher per-capita murder gun violence rates than Philadelphia does."
According to CBS News, 15 cities rank ahead of Philadelphia by murder rate. St. Louis tops the list, followed by Baltimore, Birmingham, Detroit and Dayton. Philadelphia was one of 12 cities to break annual homicide records last year.
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner says it's "the kind of thing that keeps us up at night."
The city of Pittsburgh ranked 58th on this list that was updated on February 23rd, 2022.
